How it all starts

Hey I’m Katie Louise and I am Founder & Owner of Miss Mama Wigs. In February 2019, in February 2019, I was suddenly let go from my job and I thought it’s time for me to start my own business. I’ve been brought up around wigs and have been wearing them since 2008, so it was kind of a no-brainer really!

I started this business because I thought the world of wigs was lacking in a few areas. I didn’t think enough companies were giving the best customer service, offering the option of low density and offering a wide range of custom colours.

Like many women of Afro-Caribbean Heritage, my hair has always been an integral part of my life. I use to love sweeping up hair in my aunts salon when I was younger, watching my mum get her weaves done and advising my friends on what lace wigs they should try next. I’m so passionate about wigs and helping women especially with hair loss feel confident wearing their wigs.

I’m an NVQ level 2 & 3 trained hairdresser specialising in vibrants, naturals and balayage. I’m also a certified lace wig specialist with 7 years hair industry experience. To add, I’m a very skilled seamstress and studied textiles at higher education, so machine stitching the wigs was always going to be the way for me ! Lastly, at University I ran a successful Handmade Accessories Online Shop, which products featured on ITV2 and Look Magazine! Also, I have 5 years client account management experience, so managing clients and building relationships is something I take great pride in.

All wigs are custom machine sewn and coloured in house.
